Two senior citizens were killed and six others injured in a fire that swept a residential area in Barangay Tejeros, Makati City, early Saturday.
The victims were a 69-year-old and a 70-year-old couple.
The Bureau of Fire Protection said the blaze on D. Gomez Street was reported at 1:54 a.m., reached third alarm, was controlled at 4:26 a.m., and declared out at 6:40 a.m.
The six injured suffered bruises, breathing difficulties, dizziness, and seizures.
Damages were estimated at P1.89 million, with at least 50 homes affected.
Mayor Nancy Binay said residents will be temporarily relocated to the Barangay Carmona Covered Court.
