Manila Water expands water network

Razon-led Manila Water Co. Inc. has expanded its water distribution network as it continues to upgrade and widen pipelines across the East Zone to meet rising demand.

The company reported on Friday that it laid 92.59 kilometers of new pipelines from January to November last year, expanding the network from 5,563.64 kilometers and now serving more than 7.8 million people.

“The continued build-out of pipelines strengthens system capacity and reinforces service reliability across all service areas,” said the company.

A critical role

“Network growth plays a critical role in ensuring stable water supply, improving pressure conditions, and supporting the expansion of new service connections as demand continues to rise,” added Manila Water.

Additionally, Manila Water said it expanded its sewer network to 490.61 kilometers as of October 2025, from 482.36 kilometers in January, adding 8.25 kilometers of sewer lines year-to-date.

“The expansion of sewer infrastructure improves wastewater collection efficiency, supports the growing number of sewered connections, and contributes to the protection of waterways and public health,” it said.

Aglipay Sewage Treatment Plant

Last week, the water concessionaire began operations of the nearly P4-billion Aglipay Sewage Treatment Plant, which boosted sewerage coverage in parts of Mandaluyong, San Juan, and Quezon City and benefitted about 652,000 residents.

The facility can treat up to 60 million liters of wastewater daily, expandable to 120 MLD, before discharge into the Pasig River to meet environmental standards.
