Netizens slammed Marikina 2nd District Rep. Miro Quimbo for promoting on his social media account a school building outside his congressional district.
Facebook group Marikina Against Corruption expressed concern that Quimbo has been publicly posting and taking credit for the Marikina Science High School building project despite the absence of clear permits and land ownership.
“He barged into an area outside his district. Miro is already posting about it even without a permit. He didn’t even bother to check who owns the land,” the group said.
Based on initial information, the school building will be erected on Juan Chanyungco Street, Barangay Sta. Elena, District 1.
At the same time, the group reminded the public of the reduction in the DepEd fund in the 2025 national budget, pointing out that Miro’s wife, former 2nd District Rep. Stella Quimbo, served as senior committee vice chairperson during the deliberations.
“We have not forgotten the cuts made to the 2025 DepEd budget, where Stella Quimbo served as senior committee vice chair,” the post said.
Marikina Science High School is located within the same campus as Marikina Polytechnic College (MPC).
It can be recalled that Stella Quimbo earmarked P950 million for the construction of MPC’s “Smart Campus.”
The project was bid out to Sunwest Construction and Development Corp., a company linked to former Ako Bicol Partylist Rep. Zaldy Co.
