The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) is seeking to consolidate public and industry input on new rules that will govern data transmission services to further improve internet access, speed up service delivery, and expand competition nationwide.
In a statement on Thursday, the regulator said the hearing, set for tomorrow, will cover a draft Memorandum Circular that sets the standards, qualifications, registration, and authorization process for Data Transmission Industry Participants under Republic Act No. 12234, or the Konektadong Pinoy Act.
“These steps are considered important milestones in expanding competition, improving services, and accelerating digital connectivity nationwide,” the NTC said.
The Commission said the reforms are expected to streamline regulatory processes and make services more accessible to both consumers and providers, citing the expanded use of electronic filing and digital platforms to “speed up processes, reduce red tape, and expand accessibility for all stakeholders.”
The proposed Circular is set to be issued within 30 days from the effectivity of the Implementing Rules and Regulations, while an online platform for electronic submissions is expected to be completed within three months.
In line with the Konektadong Pinoy Act, the NTC said it will also publish spectrum-related information within the same three-month period, or by 2 April, to guide new and existing players and support broader connectivity goals.
