The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) distributed 500 “Charitimba” food packs to the municipality of Pakil, Laguna on Wednesday to support families recovering from a recent typhoon.
The relief packs, which contain essential food items, were turned over at the PCSO main office on Shaw Boulevard. Atty. Lyssa Grace Pagano, assistant general manager for the Gaming Sector, presented the donation to Pakil Mayor Ronald James Hidalgo.
Hidalgo said the municipal government will oversee the immediate distribution of the packs to displaced residents and those most affected by the storm’s aftermath.
The donation is part of the PCSO’s corporate social responsibility program, which provides emergency assistance to local government units during natural disasters.
It added that its relief efforts are funded by proceeds from its lottery operations, which also support national health services and medical assistance programs for vulnerable sectors.
While the humanitarian turnover took place, two lottery winners also visited the main office to claim their jackpot prizes.
A retired resident from Cebu claimed a P288.6-million jackpot from the 3 January Grand Lotto 6/55 draw. The winner, who has played for 20 years, used a “Lucky Pick” combination of 13-42-06-45-24-33. He said he plans to use the winnings to start a business and secure his grandchildren’s education.
Additionally, a senior citizen from Tarlac claimed a P15.8-million prize from the 13 January SuperLotto 6/49 draw. The winner, who used a combination based on his children’s birthdays, said he has been a loyal lotto player since the 1990s. He told officials he intended to leave the prize money to his children as an inheritance.
