Grizzled veteran Aby Maraño has vowed to repay the trust given to her by Nxled by bringing the same passion and signature “beast mode” mentality she’s known for over the years.

Now sporting neon green after signing a deal with the Chameleons, the former national team skipper is stoked to get back on the court and help the young franchise turn into a legitimate contender in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).

Maraño gets a fresh start in a new home after the disbandment of her former club, Chery Tiggo, last month.

“I’m grateful to Nxled for allowing me to find a new home. I can only promise to do my best. I’m pumped up right now. I want to bring out the vintage Aby Maraño,” said the multi-titled and decorated middle blocker.

“I don’t want to waste the trust they (Chameleons) have given me and the warm welcome I received when they took me in.”

Maraño joined her third team in the PVL after suiting up for F2 Logistics, which was dissolved two years ago, before transferring to the Cargo Movers.

The 33-year-old De La Salle University product expressed excitement in unleashing her beast mode mantra as the rejigged Nxled shoots for a breakthrough podium in the 2026 All-Filipino Conference set to begin on 31 January.

“I want to play and serve this team. So I’m going all-out and contributing anyway I can,” she added.

“I will work so hard to prove that my time with Nxled will be all worth it.”

Maraño is among the 14 recruits, 11 from last year’s conference champion Petro Gazz after it decided to take a leave of absence, brought in by the Chameleons in a brilliant recruitment coup.

From a winless club in the Reinforced Conference, the Italian coach Ettore Guidetti-mentored Nxled has turned into a formidable squad.

The Chameleons now have a deep arsenal with a good mix of veterans and promising talents.

“I’m super excited to learn new things about volleyball with our foreign coach. Also excited to learn from my new teammates, from the young ones to the veterans,” Maraño said.
