The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) announced Thursday a series of conferences with homeowners’ associations to address local concerns and strengthen community leadership.
The initiative, led by Senior Undersecretary Sharon Faith Paquiz and Undersecretary Roman Nicholo Molina, will begin in the National Capital Region before expanding to other areas. The dialogues follow a directive from Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling to engage directly with grassroots organizations.
“In accordance with the order of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., we will bring services closer to homeowners associations to maximize their potential as front-liners in their communities and partners of the government in nation-building,” Aliling said.
On Friday, department officials will meet with the Multinational Village Homeowners Association Inc. to assist with preparations for its mandated election on 25 January. Similar dialogues are scheduled for associations in the Calabarzon region.
Department records show more than 26,000 homeowners and neighborhood associations were registered with the agency as of the end of 2025.
Paquiz stressed that the meetings are designed to educate homeowners on their rights and the benefits of formal registration. Officials said the outreach is necessary to prevent internal disputes and ensure associations remain productive partners in urban development.
