Nagsampa ang business tycoon na si Enrique Razon ng cyberlibel complaint laban kay Kiko Barzaga dahil sa umano’y maling pahayag sa social media ng kongresista.
Ayon sa abogado ni Razon na si Laurence Arroyo, ang reklamo ay bunga ng Facebook post ni Barzaga noong 9 Enero, kung saan inakusahan niya ang mga miyembro ng National Unity Party (NUP) na tumanggap ng suhol mula kay Razon.
Sinabi ni Arroyo na ang basehan ng kaso ay maling at masamang intensyon ng pagpapahayag.
Para kay Barzaga, handa siyang harapin ang kaso sa korte. “I will face him in court,” aniya.
Sinabi naman ni House Deputy Speaker at NUP chairman Ronaldo Puno na maghahain din ng kaso laban kay Barzaga, na dating miyembro ng partido.
Tinawag ni Puno na walang basehan, pabaya, at masama ang intensyon ng paratang. “We will see him in court, since he chose to malign all members of the NUP—a party once led by his own father and one that he himself joined,” sabi ni Puno.
Ayon kay Barzaga, may merit ang kanyang paratang at ibubunyag niya ang ebidensya pagbalik niya sa Kongreso.
