Megaworld Corp. is betting P8 billion on The Sugartown, a 97-hectare mixed-use township along Bacolod-Silay Airport Road in Talisay City, Negros Occidental—the heart of the country’s sugar bowl.
According to a Monday stock exchange disclosure, the township is slated for completion in seven to 10 years that will transform Negros Occidental into a destination for living and leisure.
“Our vision for this new township in Negros Occidental is to provide new opportunities to help boost tourism in the province.
With its close proximity to the Bacolod-Silay Airport, this will be an exciting destination for visitors and tourists, and a vibrant enclave for residential living,” Megaworld president and CEO Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso said.
The Sugartown will be Megaworld’s 37th township and its third in Negros Occidental, following the 53-hectare Northill Gateway and the 34-hectare The Upper East in Bacolod.
Both existing developments are just minutes away, creating a growing network of Megaworld estates across the province.
“With the Negros Island Region already in place, the future of this province is bright and we have seen the rise of mixed-use developments not just in the capital but also in other towns and cities.
Through this new township, our seventh in the Visayas, we are excited how we can further contribute to regional progress especially in tourism,” said Kevin Tan, president and CEO of Alliance Global Group, Inc., Megaworld’s parent company.
Strategically located less than five minutes from the Bacolod-Silay Airport and Talisay City Hall, and around 15 minutes from the Bacolod City Government Center.
The development will feature its own town center, commercial district, and tourism amenities, positioning the township as a central hub that connects with neighboring communities and anchors growth in Negros Occidental.
