The municipal government of Los Baños commemorated the 129th anniversary of the heroism of Jose Rizal on 30 December 2025, with a ceremony highlighting nationalism, historical awareness, and youth education.

The event, led by Mayor Neil Andrew Nocon, was held at the Lopez Elementary School Grounds and Auditorium and formed part of the local government’s annual observance of Rizal Day.

Participants included officials and employees of the municipal government, representatives from the Department of Education–Los Baños, members of the Knights of Rizal, teachers, students from various schools, and guests from local and national government agencies.

The program paid tribute to Rizal’s life, works, and sacrifices, emphasizing the continued relevance of his ideals in shaping national consciousness and civic responsibility.

As part of the commemoration, Nocon distributed educational materials developed under his initiatives, including Rizal’s World 1 and Rizal’s World 2 posters, which illustrate Rizal’s travels across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. The materials highlight how Rizal’s experiences abroad helped shape his intellect, convictions, and literary works that fueled the country’s reform movement.

The mayor also distributed the Rizal’s Laguna poster, which details Rizal’s historical ties to Laguna, including his residences, personal experiences, and key events that influenced his aspirations for reform and freedom.

The posters were formally presented to teachers, school representatives, and guests as supplemental learning tools intended to deepen students’ understanding of Rizal’s legacy and make the study of Philippine history more engaging.
