Social media star Bretman Rock recently opened up about an awkward and unpleasant encounter with Hollywood actress Vanessa Hudgens, recalling the moment during a candid podcast appearance.
Bretman said the incident happened at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, where he and his group briefly stopped by the SugarBear Hair tent to collect their tickets. According to him, the visit was meant to greet the brand’s CEO, whom he described as a friend and who was speaking with Hudgens at the time.
However, the situation allegedly took an unexpected turn when Hudgens, who was also present, appeared to hide behind her assistant as Bretman waved toward the CEO and not toward her.
“I was not fu**ing saying hi to you, Vanessa,” Bretman said on the podcast, stressing that his intention was never to approach or greet the actress. He added another remark referencing Hudgens’ iconic High School Musical role, saying, “I was always Team Sharpay.”
The influencer reflected on how the moment made him feel, particularly as a Filipino creator who has long advocated for representation and authenticity in the entertainment industry.
“You’re not above me. I’m not under you. I’m Filipino, bi**h—like you can’t even like your own people,” he said, expressing frustration over what he perceived as dismissive behavior.
Hudgens has not publicly responded to Bretman’s claims. The story, however, quickly gained traction online, sparking mixed reactions from fans.
