On the Feast of the Three Kings yesterday, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos had a chance to reflect on hope and salvation.

In Christianity, the Three Kings refer to the Magi or Wise Men who journeyed to Bethlehem, guided by a star amid a dark, chilly night in search of Jesus.

They brought gifts consisting of gold, which represents His kingdom; frankincense, symbolizing His divinity; and myrrh, an anointing oil. These gifts recognized Jesus as King and God.

“3 kings and one guiding star,” Mrs. Marcos said. “A gentle reminder to keep walking towards what truly matters.”

She also greeted the nation that was celebrating Three Kings Day, or the Epiphany.

Make time for loved ones

During the holiday season, the First Lady’s message centered on family and the importance of making time for and with loved ones, reflecting her maternal nature.

At the Advent Sunday Masses, Mrs. Marcos led the family in gathering at Malacañang for prayers and silence, giving time to pause and reflect.

“May this season continue to prepare our hearts to love one another,” she said on the Third Advent Sunday.

“May hope shine through our waiting and may God’s peace fill us with gratitude for all good things to come.”

With the first whole week of January beginning last Monday, it was officially back to work for the First Lady, the President, and the entire nation.
