The Department of Justice (DoJ) on Monday pledged full cooperation with investigators following the arrest of a payroll officer accused of diverting public funds.
DoJ spokesperson Polo Martinez said the department is coordinating closely with the National Bureau of Investigation as the probe progresses.
“The Department of Justice takes very seriously the arrest of a DoJ payroll officer in connection with an alleged diversion of public funds,” Martinez said.
“We extend full cooperation to the National Bureau of Investigation and other authorities as they pursue the investigation,” he added.
The agency stressed its commitment to transparency and the safeguarding of public resources.
Martinez added that the agency will implement stricter internal controls to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Authorities did not disclose the suspect’s identity or the specific amount of money involved, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.
