Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) will officially introduce the all-new GR Corolla to the local market on 23 December, marking the start of retail sales for the performance-oriented hatchback and expanding the company’s Gazoo Racing (GR) lineup in the country.
The GR Corolla becomes the latest addition to TMP’s GR range, joining the GR Supra, GR Yaris, and GR 86. Unlike its more track-focused siblings, the GR Corolla is positioned as a performance vehicle designed for everyday use, balancing motorsport-inspired engineering with practical five-door hatchback utility.
Developed with rally and circuit racing in mind, the GR Corolla draws from Toyota’s motorsport experience in series such as Formula D, the 24 Hours of Fuji, and the British Touring Car Championship. TMP said this background translates into improved handling and durability for a variety of driving conditions, including city driving, circuit use, and endurance runs.
The vehicle is powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder G16E-GTS engine, producing 300 PS and 400 Nm of torque, paired with an all-wheel-drive system. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual transmission and an eight-speed automatic variant.
Inside, the GR Corolla features a driver-focused layout with a 12.3-inch multi-information display, head-up display, sport seats, and a seven-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Safety features are covered by the Toyota Safety Sense package, including pre-collision systems and lane assistance technologies, depending on the variant.
TMP said the GR Corolla is aimed at drivers looking for performance without giving up daily usability, noting its spacious second row, five-door configuration, and adequate cargo space.
Pricing starts at P3.811 million for the manual variant and P3.955 million for the automatic version. Available colors include Emotional Red, Precious Metal, Black, and Super White.
With the arrival of the GR Corolla, TMP continues to broaden its GR offerings in the Philippines, signaling sustained demand for performance vehicles that can function both on the road and on the track.
