ILOILO CITY — The Social Security System (SSS) has recorded increased employer compliance across Western Visayas following the intensified implementation of its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign, a development that allows more workers to access benefits without delay.
Amiel Genova, senior communications analyst of SSS Western Visayas, said regular inspections of business establishments have prompted employers to settle unpaid contributions and fulfill obligations to their workers.
“Once inspected, many employers comply right away, and that directly benefits employees who can now file claims and avail themselves of SSS services,” Genova said during the SSS Media Appreciation Day on December 12.
The RACE program involves on-site inspections to ensure employers remit correct and timely contributions. Genova said the agency remains committed to sustaining the campaign to safeguard workers’ social security coverage.
“We will continue as long as there are employers who need to be reminded of their responsibilities to their employees,” he said.
SSS data show that 12 RACE operations were conducted in Iloilo this year, while 60 inspections were carried out across Panay Island and Guimaras, underscoring the agency’s stepped-up enforcement in the region.
Alongside enforcement, SSS is expanding access to its services, particularly for members in remote and underserved communities. Genova highlighted the continuation of the SSS e-Wheels program next year as part of this effort.
The e-Wheels initiative deploys mobile service vehicles equipped to process SSS transactions, bringing services directly to communities and informal sector workers. Members can register for SSS numbers, update records, apply for loans, generate payment reference numbers, enroll in the Disbursement Account Enrollment Module, and file benefit claims without visiting a branch.
Genova said the combination of compliance monitoring through RACE and outreach via mobile services has strengthened social protection for workers in Western Visayas.
“Enforcement ensures employers meet their obligations, while outreach programs like e-Wheels make services accessible to members,” he said. “Together, they help protect the rights and welfare of workers.”
