Police arrested six suspected members of a robbery gang following a gasoline station heist in Bulacan that was foiled by a victim’s tracking software.
The suspects, identified by authorities as members of the Marvin Acosta robbery group, were apprehended in a follow-up operation in Barangay Sucol.
Police Lt. Col. Leopoldo L. Estorque Jr., chief of the Calumpit Municipal Police Station, said the group is linked to a series of robberies across the province.
The arrests stemmed from a robbery at a gasoline station in Barangay Pungo on 18 December. Investigators said four armed men declared a holdup, taking P7,000 in cash and two cellular phones before fleeing on a motorcycle without a license plate.
Following the heist, the Bulacan Provincial Intelligence Unit and local police tracked the suspects to a residence in Purok 3 using CCTV footage and the iCloud tracking feature on one of the stolen phones.
