Doll moment

Employees taking frequent toilet breaks could lose their jobs for doing so. It happened to an engineer of a company in Jiangsu, China.
Engineer Li sued his employer for illegal termination, South China Morning Post (SCMP) reports, citing the case before the Shanghai Federation of Trade Unions.
Li argued that he had hemorrhoids which caused him to frequently go to the restroom. He showed medical records, including medicine purchases, to prove his condition.
The company justified the termination claiming that Li took 14 bathroom breaks, the longest of which lasted four hours, in a month between April and May 2024, according to SCMP. Videos of Li going to the toilet many times were presented to the court as evidence.
Li demanded 320,000 yuan in compensation. The court found his bathroom time “greatly exceeded” his physical needs, but ruled that the employer pay Li 30,000 yuan in consideration of his contributions to the company.
Meanwhile, a Chinese woman with the same surname Li ordered hand-made doll’s eyes from an online store. She agreed with the seller that the custom-made order would be delivered after two years.
The doll hobbyist was so busy that she forgot about the order after two years. Nevertheless, the hand-made doll’s eyes were not delivered to Li.
On 25 November, Li, who never changed her phone number, received a call from the seller, notifying that her 515-yuan order made in 2015 was arriving, according to SCMP. Two days later, the doll’s eyes were delivered to Li.
However, Li had no more use for the hand-made eyes as she had already sold the dolls, SCMP reports. She had outgrown her doll hobby in the last 10 years.
