Pinuna ng Commission on Audit (COA) ang Department of Health (DOH) matapos matuklasan ang mga expired at malapit nang mag-expire na gamot na nagkakahalaga ng P34.8 milyon, na posibleng mauwi lamang sa pag-aaksaya.
Kasama rin sa natukoy ng COA auditors ang iba pang inventory items na aabot sa P99.4 milyon.
Batay sa 2024 annual report ng COA para sa DOH, lumitaw sa kanilang inventory reports at actual inventory counts sa iba’t ibang Centers for Health Development at Operating Units na ang nasabing mga gamot at medical supplies ay hindi nagamit bago ito masira.
Ang mga naperwisyo o nasayang na gamot ay nagmula sa iba’t ibang rehiyon, kabilang ang Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Calabarzon, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Davao Region, at Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
