Renewable energy developer Alternergy Holdings Corp. (ALTER) has received approval from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) for the System Impact Study (SIS) for all five renewable power projects it won under the Green Energy Auction 4 (GEA 4) Program.

“The NGCP approval of the SIS is a significant step to move our projects forward. It confirms the grid’s capability and readiness to accommodate and integrate our projects into the system,” Alternergy president Gerry P. Magbanua said on Thursday.

Alternergy’s five GEA 4 projects, scheduled for delivery by 2028, have a combined potential capacity of up to 500 MW, about half of the company’s target of 1 gigawatt by 2030.

The projects include the Liberty Solar Floating Projects Phase A and Phase B in Luzon, the Kalandagan Solar Power Project with Battery Energy Storage System in Mindanao, and two wind projects: the Tayabas North Wind Energy Project in Luzon and the Alegria Wind Power Project in the Visayas.

“With the NGCP SIS approvals, we are pleased to note that we have successfully submitted to the DOE the post-auction requirements,” Magbanua said.

“We are excited to hit the ground running and start the development works.”
