A multi-agency manhunt is underway after a mass shooting at a birthday party in Stockton, California on 29 November left four people dead, including an eight-year-old Filipino-American child, and 17 others wounded over the weekend.
The attack happened Saturday evening inside a banquet hall packed with more than a hundred guests. Survivors told investigators they initially believed the loud noises were balloons popping before realizing gunfire had broken out.
Authorities confirmed that three of the dead were minors, including eight-year-old Journey Rose Guerrero. One adult also died in the shooting.
Law enforcement officials said the incident appeared to be a targeted attack and may have involved multiple gunmen. Despite reward money being offered by local authorities, police, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), no suspects have been identified and arrests have yet to be made.
In a statement posted on social media, the FBI said its Sacramento Field Office, working with the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office, is seeking information from the public regarding the mass shooting in Stockton.
Investigators are asking for information that could help identify those responsible, including possible vehicles, weapons, or any planning activity linked to the attack.
Separately, San Joaquin County officials said they are examining the banquet hall’s permits, as the venue may have been operating with incomplete documentation.
