Chery Tiggo is set to leave the Premier Volleyball League following its lackluster performance in the recent Reinforced Conference.
According to a team insider, the management had already informed the players, coaches and team staff about its looming departure on Monday, putting an end to its five-year run in the country’s top professional women’s volleyball league.
“Obviously, the management wasn’t happy about the team’s performance in the recent conference,” said a source, speaking on condition of anonymity.
“That’s why they decided to disband the team and take a different direction.”
Chery Tiggo team owner Rommel Sytin, however, has yet to inform PVL president Ricky Palou. They are expected to talk in the coming days to formalize their exit and discuss the future of the players.
“No word yet from Chery Tiggo,” Palou said.
