Aboitiz Renewables, Inc., the renewable energy arm of Aboitiz Power Corporation (AboitizPower), has turned over more than P600,000.00 royalty shares to two Indigenous Peoples (IP) organizations

In a statement issued by Aboitiz Renewables on December 2, 2025, the said royalty shares came from its hydropower plants in Benguet, and will be used by the two IP organizations to grow their floriculture enterprises.

The said royalty shares were given to the Tagadi Aguyao Indigenous People Organization (TAIPO) in Tuba and the Pahnga ni Sabdang Indigenous Peoples Organization (PASIPO) in Sablan, as the two organizations are expanding their flower farms.

The said royalty shares will also be used to improve production facilities and scale up anthurium farming, an industry that remains a key part of Benguet's local economy.

Broken down, P169,664.18 was remitted to TAIPO from the 3.8-MW Risan 1 Hydropower Plant, while P510,000 was given to PASIPO from the 8-MW Ampohaw Hydropower Plant. The royalty shares are seen to benefit more than 50 anthurium farmers.

“We share the harvest so everyone benefits, and with this expansion, we hope to pass this practice on to future generations,” said TAIPO President Anita Madarang.

“The royalty share from Aboitiz Renewables helped us invest more strategically in floriculture,” said PASIPO President Lilian Balangue, noting planned investments in better planting materials and greenhouses.

“We're now reaching more buyers and contributing to Benguet's role as a major flower supplier.”

Both organizations estimate that their expanded farms could increase production by around 15% in the coming years—growth they see as vital to sustaining their families and preserving Benguet’s floral heritage.

“By supporting community-led floriculture through royalty shares, we’re aiding the livelihood of those in our host communities,” said Noreen Vicencio, Aboitiz Renewables First Vice President and General Manager for Hydro Operations.

Aboitiz Renewables’ partnership with indigenous communities ensures that the economic benefits of clean energy generation directly empower local livelihoods, making development not just sustainable, but inclusive.

Aboitiz Renewables, Inc. is the holding company for Aboitiz Power Corporation’s (AboitizPower) renewable energy portfolio.

The company is tasked with developing and managing various renewable energy projects, with a mission to significantly expand AboitizPower’s renewable energy capacity, contributing to a more sustainable and secure energy future for the nation.
