PNP: Trillion Peso March II overall peaceful

The Philippine National Police (PNP) considered the “Trillion Peso March” held on Sunday in different areas in Metro Manila and other parts of the county as an overall peaceful event.

The PNP deployed More than 16,000 police officers to ensure a safe for all activity during the protest. Inside the Command Center, officers monitored real-time updates from drone feeds, CCTV footage and field units across Metro Manila.

Acting PNP Chief PLTGEN Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., led the monitoring of his officers. On the field, the police officers who faced protesters only carried shields and batons, following the implementation of suspension of permits to carry firearms in Metro Manila.

Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla also took part in the monitoring and coordination between the national leadership and the police.

According to PNP they recorded 87 monitored activities nationwide, with a total of 55,975 participants. All activities concluded without any serious incidents and officially ended by 7:00 PM on Sunday.

On the field, the traffic remained manageable while police visibility remained consistent. Concerns were also addressed during the event such as guiding motorists, and assisting aid to participants.

Acting Chief Nartatez expressed gratitude to the public for the responsible and disciplined participation in the gatherings.

“I extend my thanks to the organizer, marshals, and participants of the gathering for the disciplined and responsible exercise of their rights. Your cooperation was the key to maintaining peace and ensuring that no serious incidents were recorded throughout the day's activity,” PLTGEN Nartatez said.

PLTGEN Nartatez also commended the ground commanders, civil disturbance management teams, traffic units, and all police personnel who served from the preparation stage up to the clearing operations.

“Our units carried out their duties with professionalism and restraint. Your conduct reflects the values expected of the Philippine National Police,” he added.

As the PNP followed their orders for the protest, from inside the Command post to the streets. The agency said in their statement on Monday that they were guided by their mandate to safeguard the public and help ensure a calm and orderly conduct of the day’s activities.

“Given the scale and anticipated turnout of the assemblies, the PNP prepared a security posture designed to anticipate various scenarios, with the primary intention of supporting a safe environment for all participants,” the PNP said in their statement.

“Our long-standing approach has always emphasized careful planning and adequate coordination to minimize risks and maintain steady operations on the ground,” they added.
