Carlos Yulo expressed excitement over the possibility of conniving with his younger brother — Karl Eldrew — in major international events, including the Los Angeles Olympics.

The 20-year-old Yulo is firm on his belief that Eldrew has what it takes to make an impact when he joins the senior level next year.

In fact, Eldrew proved his readiness to join the senior ranks when he won a pair of bronze medals in the 3rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships last week at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Pasay City.

“As a senior, it’s a different level. I just hope that he’ll be safe,” the elder Yulo said.

“He’ll enjoy it because it’s hard to prepare, so he’ll enjoy everything, every moment.”

Yulo said while he and his younger brother will vie in apparatus and individual all-around honors, they are still committed to bringing honor to the country.

“I think he will be more motivated to go to senior. He will be better and he will be more motivated to practice,” said Yulo, brushing off talks of a sibling rivalry between two of the best male gymnasts in the country today.

“As an athlete of the Philippines, he is my teammate. He is not my rival.”

Having both brothers compete internationally will only do wonders for the Philippines. With Eldrew joining the senior team, the Filipinos now have a higher chance to vie in the team all-around, which is dominated by the likes of China and Japan.
