A parcel with 538 grams of high-grade marijuana or “kush” was intercepted by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) at the Port of Clark.
BOC on Wednesday said the shipment declared as keychains from Hong Kong bound to Biñan Laguna had a value of P807,000.
The parcel arrived on 15 November and was flagged during X-ray inspection after it showed suspicious images.
A K-9 inspection conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Wednesday gave positive indications for illegal drugs. Physical examination showed two boxes labeled as “Labubu” keychains, a line of collectible plush toys.
Each contained two sealed pouches of dried leaves and fruiting tops. Laboratory tests conducted by PDEA confirmed the substance as tetrahydrocannabinol which is the active component in marijuana.
The shipment was seized for violation of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act in relation to the Dangerous Drugs Act. The incident will undergo further investigation with coordinating agencies.
