For faster rollout of the discounted White Beep Cards, the Department of Transportation (DOTr), in partnership with AF Payments Inc. (AFPI) continues setting up caravans to universities and colleges in Metro Manila.
Today, 24 November, the agency visited National Teachers College (NTC) in Quiapo, Manila, near the LRT-2 Legarda station.
"We will go to schools ourselves so that they can get their white beep cards faster and avoid long lines at train stations," said Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez.
The 50 percent discount in the special card is applicable for students, senior citizens and people with disabilities (PWD) for their LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 rides.
The caravan will last for two days in NTC as the agency targets to distribute the cards to 480 students, 80 senior citizens, and 80 PWDs.
To apply for the card, students must present a school ID, while senior citizens and PWDs should show their senior citizen and PWD cards, respectively.
The white beep card contains the usual beep design, but it will come with the surname and the initials of the cardholder, with the date showing the validity of the card.
