“I want them to feel like they are wearing art,” Josie Natori told DAILY TRIBUNE — and her Fall 2025 collection leans exactly into that promise.

With The Many Layers of Natori, she approaches the season like an artist does a new canvas. 

The collection combines the depths of Japanese culture with the edge of the avant-garde, layering them like a painter builds tone and texture.

The palette is curated with a collector’s eye. Taupe and heathered grey create the tone — calm, anchoring colors — while expressive floral strokes provide energy, almost like prints caught in mid-brush. Ruby red adds warmth, teal cools it down, and they work together to produce a modern color tension that seems quietly forceful, a soft-meets-striking femininity that feels just now.

Fabrication is where the collection fully enters its “wearable art” chapter. 

Natori employs seasonless innovation with fluid crepe knits that flirt with movement, techno crepe with sculptural intelligence, and shibori-inspired Japanese taffeta that adds a tactile, almost meditative depth. Each piece walks the line between ease and elegance, designed for everyday wear but crafted like heirlooms.

In true Natori fashion, the drama is in the details: sculptural flourishes, 3D embellishments, and sequins that sparkle like a constellation. It combines the structure of French couture with the rule-breaking energy of Japanese design, layered both literally and metaphorically. The collection demonstrates how layering may simultaneously serve as a narrative, a cultural archive, and a styling signature.
