Metro Dumaguete Water, a joint venture of the Dumaguete City Water District and Metro Pacific Water, a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Investment Corp., is expecting to boost its water production by 3 million liters per day after completing its 22nd pumping station.
The new facility in Talay, Dumaguete City is set to directly benefit around 3,000 households, or more than 12,000 residents, while improving service reliability in key distribution areas.
Safe quality water
“Every Metro Dumaguete Water project supports the company’s goal of ensuring that Dumagueteños receive safe and quality water. By augmenting sources, we are assuring our consumers that their taps have a reliable water supply for their everyday needs,” Engr. Robert R. Cabiles, chief operating officer, said Thursday.
Aside from the pumping station, Metro Dumaguete also installed approximately 2,000 meters of transmission pipelines to efficiently deliver water from the pumping stations to the distribution network.
Key upgrades
Other key upgrades include pipeline augmentation in Yhalason, Mangnao, an area previously affected by low water pressure, and the completion of an underground pipeline crossing the Banica River in Barangay Batinguel.
“We approach our operations holistically and the milestone projects inaugurated today encapsulate this,” Cabiles said.
“This means that while we produce more water from our groundwater sources, we also ensure that the water produced will reach our consumers’ taps,” he added.
