DAVAO CITY — The Association for the Advancement of Karatedo (AAK) Davao City Chapter is set to host its Davao Cup Karate Championships on 29 November here.
Around 150 entries or more are expected to see action in the one-day activity that will feature kata and kumite events.
“We have invited clubs from the region to join us,” AAK Davao chief instructor and Karate Pilipinas Sport Federation Inc. regional director Rommel Tan said during the weekly Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum last Thursday.
“The AAK Davao Cup Karate Championships will serve as a tune-up for our upcoming national and international competitions that will be in the first quarter of next year.”
Aside from Tan, also gracing the DSA Forum were AAK Davao City director Jerson Tamayo along with Batang Pinoy 2025 karatedo medalists Eduardo Berco III, Janne Crisbelle Berco, Precious Zyrah Sacopayo, Hailey Dominique So and Robert Bryan Dayanan Jr.
“These players will also see action in the AAK Davao Cup Karate Championships,” Tan added.
Composed mostly of AAK members, the Davao City karate squad emerged with a total of three gold, three silver, and five bronze medals in the 2025 Batang Pinoy that was held in General Santos City recently.
