The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has proclaimed Jan Franz Norbert Joselito Chan as the third nominee of the Ako Bicol Partylist, replacing Zaldy Co who resigned from Congress amid the flood control scandal.
Co formally stepped down on Wednesday, 12 November.
Co submitted his irrevocable resignation to the House in a letter following allegations of his involvement in billions of pesos’ worth of controversial public works projects linked to his construction firm, Sunwest.
The House leadership subsequently moved to officially remove Co from the roll of members of the legislative chamber.
Chan was proclaimed by Comelec chairperson George Garcia, along with Commissioners Reynaldo Bulay, Ernesto Maceda Jr., Maria Norina Tangaro-Casingal and Noli Pipo.
In the 2025 elections, the Ako Bicol Partylist group won two seats after garnering 2.57 percent of the votes cast in the partylist contest.
