China has pledged to provide relief assistance to the Philippines following the back-to-back onslaught of Typhoons #TinoPH and #UwanPH, which caused severe damage across various parts of the country.
The Chinese Embassy in Manila extended its sympathy and condolences on Tuesday, 11 November, to the victims and bereaved families affected by the disasters.
In its statement, the embassy announced that China will provide both cash and in-kind donations to support recovery efforts.
“In the spirit of humanitarianism and out of the friendship between the Chinese and Filipino peoples, China will donate 1 million US dollars in cash and 10 million RMB in kind. We sincerely hope that the Filipino people in the disaster-stricken areas will recover and rebuild their homes soon,” the statement read.
As of yesterday, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) reported 232 deaths, 112 missing persons, and 512 injured from Typhoon Tino, and 25 deaths from Super Typhoon Uwan.
