Hundred flights affected as #UwanPH hits

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) reported a total of 389 flights affected nationwide from 8 to 10 November due to weather conditions brought by Super Typhoon Uwan. 

Of this number, 386 flights were cancelled, with 325 domestic flights and 61 international, while three flights were diverted. 

Among the airlines, Philippines Air Asia logged the highest number of cancellations with 126 flights, followed by Cebu Pacific (77), CebGo (60), and Philippine Airlines (56). Other affected carriers include AirSwift, AirAsia Berhad, Sunlight Air, China Southern, United Airlines, and Scoot. 

Daily records show 219 cancellation on 9 November, consisting of 179 domestic flights and 40 international flights, and 141 cancellations on Monday, 10 November, including 123 domestic and 18 international flights. 

CAAP earlier announced the temporary suspension of operations in all Area V airports under the Bicol Region due to weather conditions. These include Bicol International Airport in Daraga, Albay; Naga, Virac, Masbate, Daet Airports, along with Bulan and Bacon Airports in Sorsogon. 

A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) was issued suspending operation from 4:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday subject to extension depending on safety assessments. All flights from these airports have been cancelled or diverted. 

Stranded passengers are provided with meals and shelter until operations can safely resume. 

The following airports are also temporarily closed:

  • Cauayan Airport: Closed from 11:35 AM until 4:00 PM Sunday

  • Baguio Airport: Closed from 12:24 PM until 3:30 PM, 10 November

  • Sangley Airport: Closed from 9:18 AM until 6:00 PM, 10 November

Passengers are advised to coordinate with their airlines for updates, rebooking options, and travel assistance.
