DPWH deploys 9,405 personnel, heavy equipment ahead of Super Typhoon #UwanPH

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has deployed 9,405 personnel and 1,603 units of equipment nationwide to support disaster response operations ahead of the expected landfall of Super Typhoon “Uwan.”

Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon said the agency is acting on the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to ensure proactive preparation before the storm strikes.

Dizon said Disaster and Incident Management Teams (DIMT) have already been dispatched to critical areas, equipped with heavy machinery for clearing operations, road access restoration, and emergency repairs.

"Ang bilin ng ating Pangulo, dapat proactive tayo. Bago pa man manalasa ang Super Typhoon Uwan, naka-pwesto na ang ating mga quick response teams. Naka-standby ang ating personnel at equipment para tumulong sa local government units para sa pre-emptive clearing hanggang sa makaalis ang bagyo sa bansa," Dizon said.

He emphasized the importance of clearing roads as early and as quickly as possible to allow the continuous delivery of government assistance and relief efforts.

The DPWH is also monitoring national road networks and issuing real-time advisories on possible closures to ensure public safety during the typhoon.
