Annie Ramirez is still rejoicing after winning two gold medals in the women’s -57-kilogram division of the JJIF World Championships in Bangkok.
Ramirez, 35, posted on social media that winning two gold medals is already a feat in itself since it is her first time winning in the pWorld Championships in the Gi and No-Gi categories in her weight class.
With this victory, the University of Santo Tomas alumnus won every major competition available after winning the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, Asian Games, Asian Championships, Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG), and Asian Beach Games.
“Four days ago, I won my first-ever JJIF World Championship gold in Gi, and today, He blessed me again — another gold in the 57kg No-Gi division!” Ramirez posted on social media.
“This double gold at the World Championships is one of the first for Team Philippines — and also the first in my career. I can’t express how happy and grateful I am to finally achieve this milestone.”
“I’ve been trying to reach this gold since 2021. Last year, I finally got my first medal (a bronze), and now my first-ever finals, and I brought home the gold.”
Ramirez will be one of the Philippines’ top bets for the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand when it kicks off on 9 December.
