Three-division world champion Johnriel Casimero needs to come up with a convincing reason why the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) will not pursue an investigation over his alleged fight-fixing involvement in Kyrgyzstan last month.
GAB chairman Francisco said that Casimero has been summoned by the government agency to appear on Tuesday for a “clarificatory conference.”
“The Games and Amusements Board (GAB) received complaints alleging that your team was involved in a game-fixing scheme in connection with the boxing fight of John Riel Casimero against Kyonosuke Kameda last 25 October 2025 in Bishkek Arena, Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan,” the GAB said in a letter addressed to Casimero and his brother and chief trainer Jayson Casimero.
Alarm bells sounded recently after Casimero lost a 10-round decision to Kyonosuke Kameda of Japan.
A couple of days after the featherweight bout, Jayson took to social media to explain to their followers what had happened in the event.
The GAB said a few complainants went to the agency and requested that the Casimero brothers be subjected to an investigation.
According to the GAB, the complainants made the following allegations:
1. That prior to the fight, you allegedly encouraged fans to place bets on John Riel Casimero, only to intentionally lose against Kameda thereafter; and
2. That Jayson R. Casimero, the head coach and trainer of boxer ]ohn Riel R. Casimero, appeared to admit on video that they deliberately lost the fight.
“In view of these complaints, the GAB is now launching an investigation to determine whether these allegations have merit. “Accordingly, you are both requested to submit a comment on these complaints within a non-extendible period of five (5) calendar days from receipt of this letter. Copies of the complaints are attached for your ease of reference.”
“Furthermore, you are hereby required to appear at the clarificatory conference on 11 November 2025 (Tuesday) at 10 o’clock in the morning at the Games and Amusements Board.”
Casimero, 36, remains the country’s most popular fighter next to Manny Pacquiao.
His fall from grace began when Casimero cut ties with American dealmaker Sean Gibbons in 2021.
After parting ways with Gibbons, Casimero jumped from one promoter to another.
He recently signed with Kameda Promotions.
