BALER, Aurora – The Provincial Government of Aurora has ordered a full suspension of work in all government agencies and classes at all levels (public and private) on 10 November as Typhoon “Uwan” (Fung-Wong) threatens Northern and Central Luzon.

The preemptive measure, declared through Memorandum No. 2025-86 by the Aurora Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), aims to ensure public safety amid forecasts of torrential rains, flooding, and landslides.

“The safety of our constituents is our utmost priority. We urge everyone to take these suspensions seriously, monitor weather updates, and evacuate if necessary,” stated Governor Isidro P. Galban.

With the province under Blue Alert since 8 November, Gov. Galban had earlier directed the conduct of Pre-Disaster Risk Assessments and the prepositioning of rescue teams. The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is operating 24/7, with response clusters on standby.

Towns such as Dingalan, Dilasag, and Baler are facing potential storm surges. As a precaution, local authorities had previously suspended government work and classes in several areas. The Philippine Coast Guard – Aurora has also banned small boats from sailing and fishing activities.

Rescue teams from multiple agencies—including the 307th CDC, 3rd RDG, RESCOM, Philippine Army, and various DRRM offices—are geared up for search and rescue operations. Equipment such as rubber boats, rescue vehicles, and generator sets have been strategically prepositioned.

The Department of Public Works and Highways, along with the Provincial Engineering Office, has assigned heavy machinery to key roads for clearing operations. The Provincial Health Office is on Code White Alert, with P1.47 million worth of medical supplies ready for deployment.

Provincial Board Member Sheenalyn B. Tablang, Chairperson of the Committee on Risk Reduction and Management and Relief Operations, reminded residents that disaster preparedness is a shared responsibility, urging families to take proactive steps to safeguard their lives and property.

The Aurora PDRRMC urges the public to stay informed through official announcements from DOST-PAGASA, DILG, and local governments.

The provincial government assured that relief goods, medical supplies, and evacuation centers are in place to support affected residents. The Aurora PDRRMC will continue issuing updates as Typhoon Uwan (Fung-Wong) approaches.
