The Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP) assured that everything is ready once the 3rd FIG Junior World Artistic Gymnastics Championships that will start on 20 November at the Marriott Grand Ballroom.
GAP president Cynthia Carrion said it’s green and go for the event that kicks off Sunday.
“Japan and the Netherlands will arrive on the 15th and everybody else on the 16th. Everything is perfectly done. Everything is complete,” Carrion said.
With many points of Interest being near the venue, Carrion said the safety of the coaches and gymnasts will be assured.
“They’re all in the same area. There’s entertainment, there’s shopping, there’s everything in one walking distance. It’s a beautiful area and they’re very secure,” Carrion said.
“The police will secure them and they’re very close to the training hall, they’re close to the competition hall. Everything is within walking distance, which is wonderful.”
Philippine Sports Commission chairman Patrick “Pato” Gregorio said they are in full support for the hosting of the Junior World Championships, especially with the newly-formed National Sports Tourism Inter-Agency Committee (NST-IAC) expected to help out.
“In bidding for the hosting of international meets, both the private sector represented by national sports associations (NSAs) and the government will be on the same page,” Gregorio said.
“With the NST-IAC, both sectors can now work together without overlapping, how to maximize the brands, like the Junior World Championships, and maximize the support of the government agencies involved.”
The Philippines will be competing in individual and team all-around events in this five-day competition with Karl Eldrew Yulo and Elisabeth Antone leading the charge.
