President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has declared a state of national calamity following Typhoon Tino, which has left 81 dead, 81 injured, and 72 missing, the NDRRMC said.
The storm affected more than 1.9 million people across eight regions, displacing thousands and forcing over 445,000 to seek shelter in nearly 5,000 evacuation centers. Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and Caraga were the hardest hit.
Infrastructure and housing sustained heavy damage, including 69 road sections and 8 bridges, with 42 roads and 5 bridges still impassable. Authorities reported 1,292 damaged homes, mostly in Caraga, where estimated infrastructure losses reached ₱6.33 million.
Government agencies, led by DSWD, DPWH, and local disaster units, continue rescue, relief, and clearing operations.
