Cebu sees crime drop during Undas 2025

The Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) reported Monday a massive reduction in crime during the observance of Undas (All Souls’ and All Saints’ Days) 2025, recording a 57.14 percent decline in crimes across 188 cemeteries.
CPPO provincial director Col. Abubakar Udang Mangelen Jr. said that there were zero Undas-related cases across the entire Cebu Province.
“This accomplishment reflects the effectiveness of modern, disciplined, and community-centered policing aligned with the direction of PRO7 regional director PBGen. Redrico Maranan,” Mangelen said.
Overall crime data from 29 October to 2 November showed a 44.74 percent decline in Peace and Order incidents compared to the same period in 2024, which recorded two Undas-related cases.
To ensure safety, the CPPO confiscated 19 prohibited items in cemeteries, including bladed weapons, alcohol, and illegal gambling paraphernalia. Meanwhile, anti-crime efforts remained active throughout the period, leading to the serving of 54 warrants, the arrest of 47 wanted persons, and the apprehension of 43 drug personalities, along with the seizure of 143.22 grams of shabu valued at P973,896.
A total of 6,013 personnel from the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Coast Guard, and various other agencies were deployed to secure public areas.
