This marks the first time the Michelin Guide has awarded stars in the Philippines, though Filipino cuisine has already gained international acclaim, with Kasama, a Filipino-owned restaurant in Chicago, earning a Michelin Star in 2022.

In the official Michelin Guide announcement, Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide, said:

“This selection pays tribute to a new generation of Filipino and international chefs who have embraced the Philippines — drawing inspiration from local heritage, bold flavors, and heartfelt hospitality.”
