

BONTOC, Mountain Province — Three individuals were declared dead on the spot following a multi-vehicle accident that caused an Elf truck to plunge into the Chico River in Bontoc, Mountain Province, on the morning of 27 October 2025.
The Bontoc Operations Center received a report at around 6:00 a.m. regarding a vehicular traffic accident involving a blue Elf truck, a Ford Fiera, and a mini dump truck. The collision resulted in the blue Elf truck being submerged in the deep waters of the Chico River in the Gawa area of Barangay Tocucan, Bontoc.
Three bodies were retrieved at the site.
Initial reports indicate that the submerged Elf truck was transporting workers of Balintaugan Construction. The vehicle was reportedly carrying five occupants and was en route to a construction site in Kuro-Kuro, Sadanga, Mountain Province. The accident occurred when the Elf truck allegedly struck two vehicles parked along the roadside.
Responders are currently working to locate the remaining victims.
