SM Supermalls, a subsidiary of SM Prime Holdings Inc., reinforced its leadership in people management and sustainability at the 62nd People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) Annual Conference and Awards held at NuSTAR Cebu on 23 October.

Competing with 96 organizations across three award categories, SM Supermalls emerged with two significant recognitions: Cheryll Ruth Lat-Agsaoay as the 2025 People Manager of the Year – National Winner, and Sustainability Moves honored as People Program of the Year – NCR Exemplar.

Lat-Agsaoay, SM Supermalls’ HR Group Head and Senior Vice President, became the first in SM Group history to receive PMAP’s highest individual honor. The award highlights her transformative leadership, which blends empathy, innovation, and agility, shaping a workplace where employees feel valued and empowered.

“HR will continue to champion innovative solutions with deep human connections. We'll influence safe and brave spaces where people can be intentional about innovation and collaboration,” said Lat-Agsaoay.

The accolade coincides with SM Supermalls’ 40th anniversary, underscoring its long-standing commitment to nurturing talent, fostering growth from within, and cultivating a culture where purpose meets performance.

Meanwhile, Sustainability Moves, recognized as the NCR Exemplar for People Program of the Year, exemplifies how SM Supermalls integrates environmental and social responsibility into its daily operations. Powered by employee volunteerism and purpose-driven initiatives, the program reflects the company’s dedication to building a sustainable and inclusive workplace.

“Our people are at the heart of what we do as an organization. HR is a strategic partner to the business as we drive a high-performing culture, and sustainability has always been at the core of how we work in operations,” said SM Supermalls President Steven T. Tan.

The back-to-back recognitions from PMAP affirm SM Supermalls’ mission to not only provide a premier shopping experience but also serve as a great place to work, where employees are empowered to make meaningful contributions and help drive a sustainable future.
