First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, who is a Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reserve officer, joined the recent celebration of the service agency’s founding anniversary.

The PCG is in its 124th year of serving as one of the law enforcement agencies manning the country’s shores.

“So proud to be part of the Philippine Coast Guard honor family!” the First Lady said.

Mrs. Marcos joined the PCG in 2024 and was promoted to the rank of Auxiliary Vice Admiral.

A year in, as the First Lady, she recognized the efforts of the PCG personnel, citing their sacrifices and heroic acts to put the country first and keep safety and order.

“To stand beside the brave men and women who choose service over comfort, duty over fear, and country above self is such an honor!” she enthused.

Dedication recognized

The First Lady stood next to her husband, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., as they awarded outstanding Guardsmen-recipients for their professionalism, dedication, and exceptional performance.

Among the awards conferred by the Commander-in-Chief were District of the Year, Station of the Year, Sub-Station of the Year, Ship of the Year, Small Aircraft of the Year, PCG Aircraft of the Year, Lighthouse Keeper of the Year, Non-Officer of the Year, Non-Uniformed Personnel Supervisor of the Year, and Non-Uniformed Personnel of the Year.

“Congrats to our awardees and to the entire PCG! You serve with courage, heart and pride. Happy 124th anniversary to our Philippine Coast Guard,” the First Lady said.
