Yuni Robles-Batista and Chery Tiggo vented out their frustrations on hapless Galeries Tower with a 25-9, 25-16, 25-23, whipping for their first win in the 2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference Thursday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
Finding themselves on the losing end in their first three forays in Pool B, the EV Crossovers, led by their Cuban import, were relentless despite some troubles in the final moments of the third set.
Robles-Batista led two other Chery Tiggo players in double figures with 20 points coming from 19 kills and a kill block.
“Of course, it’s really good to win finally. We were struggling in the first three games. Things didn’t go our way. We just continued working and believing what our coaches say,” she said.
“We still have a chance to make (a run) in the competition.”
Ara Galang scored 10 of her 11 points from attacks and had six digs while Pauline Gaston added 10 points for the PVL On Tour runners-up EV Crossovers.
Chery Tiggo was in full control of the first two sets before finding some resistance from the Highrisers in the third.
Galeries Tower managed to tie the count at 23 on Jean Asis’ runner but the EV Crossovers calmly fired back with a Gaston single block-breaker before Shaya Adorador sealed the deal with an off-the-block hit to wrap up the 90-minute clinical dismantling.
“I always tell them not to give up, don’t be disappointed since we still have a long tournament ahead of us. We just need to work harder every day. I don’t want to see them down because of our team’s standings,” EV Crossovers head coach Norman Miguel said.
