The remains of the Filipino crew who died in the Houthi rebel attack on MV Minervagracht in the Gulf of Aden last month have arrived on Sunday night, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said.
The remains of the seafarer were received near Terminals 1 and 2 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City by his family, along with representatives from the DMW, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, and his manning agency.
According to DMW, the remains will be brought to Iligan, where his wife’s family resides, before being laid to rest in his hometown in Zamboanga del Sur.
The MV Minervagracht was hit by an explosive device on 29 September.
The vessel carried 19 crew members, 12 of whom are Filipinos.
Ten of the Filipino seafarers were repatriated last 4 October aboard Air France Flight 244, while another, who was injured in the attack was repatriated earlier this month.
