ILOILO CITY — Police seized at least three kilos of dried marijuana and high-grade Kush in a buy-bust operation in Zone 3, Barangay Compania Central, Molo District, Wednesday evening.
The suspect, identified only as “Toto,” a 16-year-old resident of Iloilo City, was arrested during the sting led by the Iloilo City Police Drug Enforcement Team. Authorities estimated the confiscated marijuana to be worth around Php360,000.
Police Regional Office 6 Director Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan said the arrest serves as a stern reminder for parents to keep a closer watch on their children and guide them away from the dangers of illegal drugs.
“This incident reminds us that our youth must be guided and protected. Parents play a vital role in steering their children toward the right path,” Ligan said.
He also urged young people to choose a life away from crime and substance abuse, encouraging them instead to become “productive and responsible members of society.”
The minor is currently under the custody of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and housed at Balay Dalayunan in La Paz for proper intervention and rehabilitation.
