Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC), the private operator of LRT-1, is reaffirming its commitment to community development by renewing its partnership with Binhi English Literacy Foundation, Inc., continuing its mission to empower young Filipino students through literacy.

Under the collaboration, LRMC is sponsoring 25 students from Baclaran Elementary School Central for the 2025–2026 school year, providing essential English literacy support to help them develop strong reading and comprehension skills.

A memorandum of agreement was recently signed by LRMC Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) Department Head Jason N. Magdaong, Binhi English Literacy Foundation, Inc. Founder Lisa T. Bayot, and Baclaran Elementary School Central Principal I Ma. Carina L. Bautista to formalize the renewed partnership.

“We believe that a strong foundation in literacy is a building block for a brighter future,” said Magdaong.

“By continuing our partnership with Binhi, we are not only helping these young students improve their reading skills but also empowering them to reach their full potential. This is our way of contributing to a more literate and prosperous nation.”

The program, which benefits children aged 5 to 8, aims to foster early literacy and equip students with the fundamental tools for lifelong learning.

LRMC’s continuing support reflects its dedication to the communities along the LRT-1 line and aligns with the company’s advocacy for quality education, consistent with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (UN SDG) 4: Quality Education.

Since its inception in the 2020–2021 school year, the LRMC–Binhi partnership has provided crucial learning support to over a hundred scholars. The program’s success is anchored in proven teaching methodologies and the active involvement of trained public school teachers and volunteers.

Through this initiative, LRMC and Binhi demonstrate how strong private-sector engagement can make a lasting impact on education—helping shape a more literate, confident, and empowered generation of Filipinos.
