The Supreme Court en banc has directed the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and other respondents to file their comments within 10 days on a petition filed by the Duterte Youth Party List seeking a temporary restraining order (TRO) and a special raffle.
In a 30 September resolution, the Court required the respondents to submit their comments within a non-extendible 10-day period from the notice of the order.
The petition was filed by the Duty to Energize the Republic Through the Enlightenment of the Youth Sectoral Party List Organization, also known as the Duterte Youth Party List, represented by its chairman Ronald Gian Carlo L. Cardema. The group sought judicial relief against the Comelec and several private respondents — Reeya Beatrice Magtalas, Abigail Aleli Tan, Raainah Punzalan, and Aunell Ross Angcos.
However, the Court denied the Duterte Youth Party List’s request for the issuance of a TRO, a writ of preliminary injunction, and a status quo ante order. It also denied the motion for a special raffle, which would have expedited the assignment of the case to a specific division.
