A powerhouse ensemble led by ‘Diamond Star’ Maricel Soriano, with Piolo Pascual, Joshua Garcia, Juan Karlos and Belle Mariano, takes center stage in Meet, Greet & Bye — Star Cinema’s newest family drama helmed by acclaimed director Cathy Garcia-Sampana. Opening worldwide on 12 November, the film explores love, loss and the unbreakable bond of a Filipino family tested by life’s hardest goodbye.
The heart of the Facundos
At the core of Meet, Greet & Bye is the Facundo family, whose world shifts when their mother, Mama Baby (Maricel Soriano), is diagnosed with cancer for the second time. Refusing chemotherapy, she confronts her illness with quiet strength and humor, forcing her four children to confront their pain — and one another.
The film captures the tension and tenderness of siblings Tupe (Piolo Pascual), Brad (Joshua Garcia), Leo (Juan Karlos) and Geri (Belle Mariano) as they set aside old grudges to rally behind their mother. Their individual struggles intertwine in a story that celebrates both the chaos and comfort of family.
Soriano’s maternal power
In the role of Mama Baby, Maricel is both commanding and vulnerable — a portrait of a mother whose strength holds the family together even as her body weakens. At the film’s media conference, Soriano praised her young co-star, Belle, for her authenticity and emotional depth.
“Wala siyang kaba — wala. Ang nakita ko ay yung mga mata niya, ang ganda ganda. Natural siyang umarte, totoo lahat ng pinapakita niya (She has no fear– none. What I saw were her eyes, they are beautiful. She isa natural actress. What she showed were all realistic),” Soriano shared. “Anak, mahusay ka. Ipaghusayin mo pa. Kailangan ka ng industriya. (My child, you are good. Also, try to do better. The industry needs people like you).”
Her words of encouragement echo the real-life mentorship that often forms behind the scenes — a theme the film itself lovingly mirrors.
Mariano’s
breakthrough moment
For Belle, portraying Geri, the youngest Facundo, is both a challenge and a milestone. Acting alongside the Diamond Star and a cast of seasoned performers, she described her experience as “a dream and a masterclass.”
“First scene ko with Mama, medyo heavy ‘yung eksena. Sabi niya sa akin, ‘Anak, ibuga mo lahat bago mo ibigay — mas maramdaman mo.’ Yun ang lesson na dadalhin ko (My first scene with Mama was heavy. She told me to give my all — ‘you will feel it more.’ That was her advise to me),” Belle recalled.
The brothers’ bond: Piolo, Joshua and Juan Karlos
While Belle carries the film’s youthful energy, the three brothers embody its emotional gravity.
Piolo delivers a poignant performance as Tupe, the eldest son burdened by duty and guilt. “It hits close to home,” Piolo admitted. “It’s something every Filipino family faces — the pain of losing someone you love.”
Garcia, as Brad, channels quiet resilience, while Juan Karlos, as Leo, brings a raw, lived-in truth. “It’s too close to what I’ve gone through in life,” Juan Karlos confessed. “That made it painful but also beautiful to do.”
Together, the three men showcase a delicate balance between brotherhood, frustration and love — each performance adding texture to the Facundos’ story.
A love letter to family
According to writers Jumbo Albano and Patrick Valencia, Meet, Greet & Bye was born out of a shared fear: losing one’s parents.
“This is our love letter to our parents,” said Albano. “And in the same way, it’s Direk Cathy’s love letter to her children.”
Garcia-Sampana, known for her emotionally resonant blockbusters, infuses the film with her signature blend of humor and heartbreak. The result is a story that feels deeply personal yet universally relatable — a reminder of the fleeting moments we share with those we love most.
A film to remember
From its emotionally charged trailer to the glowing MGB lights at the ABS-CBN ELJ building, Meet, Greet & Bye stands poised to be one of the year’s most talked-about Filipino films.
“Talagang pinagmamalaki namin ang pelikulang ito (We are proud of this movie),” Soriano said. “Sana panoorin ninyo — hinding-hindi kayo magsisisi (I wish you would watch it. You will not regret it).”
With a stellar ensemble cast delivering performances anchored in truth and love, Meet, Greet & Bye is more than a film — it’s a heartfelt reunion of generations, bound by storytelling that reflects the very soul of Filipino family life.
