Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso is fulfilling a campaign promise by distributing free milk to senior citizens across the city.
The initiative, which began Monday, aims to provide milk to all seniors, regardless of whether they are registered voters.
Domagoso directed all 896 barangay chairmen to submit lists of senior citizens in their areas for the distribution.
According to the mayor’s office, about 80 percent of barangays have complied so far. The initial count shows that 101,032 seniors have received milk, with the highest number of recipients in District 6 (28,419) and the lowest in District 1 (8,312).
Domagoso’s office has tasked several city departments, including the Manila Health Department and the Office of the Senior Citizen, with ensuring an orderly distribution.
Barangays that have not yet submitted their lists of seniors have been given two additional days to do so.
